STOW -- Two people have been charged with meth-related charges after police say they found the pair cooking a batch of the drug in a Stow home.
Police were called to the Burton Drive residence on March 7 in the afternoon to check on the welfare of two people inside.
Officers found the man and woman in question hiding in the basement. They say the basement was filled with smoke and smelled of chemicals. Police say further investigation revealed the two were in the process of cooking meth using the one-pot method.
The fire department was called to ventilate the home and a HAZMAT team was brought in to take away the various equipment and chemicals that police say were found in the basement.
Police arrested and charged Sarah Bimshas, 26, and Joseph Papp, 34, with illegal manufacturing of drugs and illegal assembly or possession of chemical for the manufacture of drugs. The two are in the Summit County Jail.
Additionally, an 8-year-old daughter of Bimshas was taken from the home. The child is in the custody of Children's Services.
