CHARDON -- Now that T.J. Lane has pleaded guilty to all charges in the Chardon shooting, it will be up to a judge to decide how long the 18-year-old should spend in prison for his crimes.

Lane pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault before Judge David Fuhry this morning in Chardon. Lane also pleaded to firearms specifications on each count.

Before accepting his pleas, Judge Fuhry extensively quizzed Lane as to whether he understood fully what he was agreeing to in pleading guilty including the right to appeal.

Fuhry explained that sentencing guidelines could provide for a maximum sentence of three consecutive life sentences with additional time added for the attempted aggravated murder charges and gun specifications on top of that.

Judge Fuhry said that he would be under no obligation to accept any recommendations for mitigating that sentence and told Lane he could very well be spending the rest of his natural life behind bars. When asked if he had any expectation of getting out of prison in his lifetime, Lane told the judge, "No."

Sentencing is scheduled for March 19.
