NORTH CANTON -- An Akron woman was arrested Thursday on charges of setting fire to a North Canton home.
On Thursday, the Stark County Sheriff's office arrested Rose Ann Butts on three counts of aggravated arson regarding a residential structure fire which happened on April 12, 2012, at 516 McKinley Ave. SE. in North Canton.
She was taken to the Stark County Jail. She was issued an arraignment date of March 1 at 8:30 a.m. with Judge Taryn L. Heath assigned to the case.
On April 12, 2012 at approximately 10:12 a. m., the North Canton Fire Department responded to the 500 block of McKinley Ave. S.E to a house fire which had spread to homes on each side of the house.
The investigation to determine the cause of the fire was conducted by the North Canton Fire Prevention Bureau, North Canton Police Department, the State Fire Marshal's office and the Stark County Prosecutor's Office.
Samples of debris were collected and sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for analysis. The fire was determined to be arson.
Facts of the investigation were presented to a Stark County Grand Jury which returned an indictment for the arrest of Rose Ann Butts.
