CLEVELAND -- The Medical Mart is a huge project that planners hope will have a huge economic impact on Northeast Ohio.

It's on time, under budget and will open this fall.

But when it does it will have a new name. It's becoming the Global Center for Health Innovation.

The old name left many people confused, thinking maybe it was a giant drug store or place to buy walkers and wheelchairs.

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald announced the new name, making news in his third State of the County speech at the Renaissance Hotel Tuesday.

FitzGerald also announced a major new tenant for the facility.

Chicago's HIMMS, Healthcare information and Managment Systems Society, will lease almost an entire floor.

It was the anchor tenant of the competing Nashvile medical showcase facility before it folded.

FitzGerald says almost all the Medical Mart space is filled and some prospective tenants may be turned away.

"It's a problem we didn't expect to have," he said.

FitzGerald also proposed a big outside-the-box idea. He wants to hold a sequel to the famous 1936 Great Lakes Exposition. The 80th anniversary is in 2016.

That event brought lots of attention and visitors to the city, "putting it on the map." It was part entertainment and part showcase for the city's arts industry and culture.

FitzGerald also announced plans to consolidate 48 9-1-1 dispatch centers in Cuyahoga County in a system of four centers.

It's a ten-year plan he claims would save money and lives.

He waid the county will be giving school systems and cities a total of $5 million in money saved from a more efficient property appraisal process.  He said it would provide some relief for state budget cuts and the still slumping economy.

In his speech, he did not address the question people are asking most often.

Will he run for Governor? It would mean focusing lots of time and energy on a Governor's campaign in the last two years of his term and keep him from seeking reelection.

In a Monday interview with Tom Beres, he said he still has not decided and the Democratic party is attempting to put together its 2014 ticket without the expense of and internal battle of a primary.
