CLEVELAND -- Getting tough on those behaving badly on the RTA buses was part of a new proposal heard by Cleveland City Council Monday night.
Council wants to make RTA for both the drivers and the passengers.
It's hard to forget the video that showed a passenger spitting on a driver, who then punched the passenger right in the face.
It's incidents like this that has one councilman asking for tougher penalties and charges against those causing problems on public transportation.
The focus of it is to give the RTA some teeth. It will benefit riders and change the culture.
The proposal includes making offenses like, fights, graffati and smoking on the bus first degree misdemeanors. No official action was taken Monday night.
