CLEVELAND -- A spokesman says Ken Lanci has completed preliminary polling in his exploration of a potential campaign against incumbent Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson.
Lanci recently completed the polling and will, in the coming weeks, finalize his decision regarding the September primary race.
Lanci is a registered Democrat and chairman/CEO of Consolidated Graphics Groups, a Cleveland marketing solutions company. Lanci previously ran for Cuyahoga County Executive in 2010
"The goal of this polling was to understand the mindset of the residents of Cleveland," said Lanci.
"Northeast Ohio has had billions of dollars in investment, but, we have now confirmed our initial beliefs that the residents are not seeing any of these benefits. They want a mayor that can work with Safety Services and bring real change to the school system."
"They are looking for new opportunities and for new ideas. The status-quo just isn't acceptable anymore. "
"With that experience and as a business leader in Cleveland, I've helped to grow jobs -- and I understand what it means to set the stage for future job growth."
Lanci says he believes that building the base for economic growth is the first step in long-term success, but improving the city's education systems and lowering crime rates need immediate attention with fresh ideas. He is continuing to seek out people that are like-minded.
Lanci must officially file with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections on June 27, 2013 regarding his intentions.
However, he will likely make his official determination in the spring, his spokesman said.
