CLEVELAND -- One person is in the hospital after being shot on the east side.
The shooting happened at 7809 Woodland Avenue just after 9 p.m. Friday.
Police say Melvin C. Appling, 36, finished locking up his store and went to get into his car. That's when a man got out of a sky blue minivan and began firing at Appling, hitting him once in the left side above his hip.
The shooter then got back into the van and drove off.
The suspect is described as a black male with black male with a light complexion, standing approximately 5'4" tall and weighing about 150lbs.
The suspect was wearing a mask.
