On today's episode of "Ellen," host Ellen DeGeneres, with the help of Kevin Nealon, surprised a local Chesterland family.
The Demanskes were relaxing at home when the phone rang, and to their surprise it was Ellen calling, then Kevin Nealon started knocking and before they knew it they were playing Ellen's new game "Cash at Your Door" for a chance to win $10,000!
Ellen asks Kevin to explain the game, and soon after the Demanske family was answer all the questions correct; each correct answer was worth $1,000.
The family answered all their questions correctly for $9000, then Ellen asked them to hold on while wraps up the show, for a bonus round.
When Ellen returns, she asks the bonus questions, and guess what, they got it right , but this time Kevin opened up a brief case full of cash, $10,000 in cold hard car, courtesy of Shutterfly!
The Demaske Family had been struggling financially, so Brittany, wrote the below email to Ellen:
I am a stay-at-home-mom, going to school for nursing, and am married to the most amazing man. He is HILARIOUS, caring, generous, and an awesome father to our 3 kids. He is the sole financial supporter of our family and works his tail off to keep a roof over our heads, food on the table, and my tuition covered for school. Unfortunately with the economy the way it is, we are living paycheck to paycheck each week. No matter how hard my husband works, we just can't seem to get ahead. We're so thankful that our kids are still young enough that they won't realize that they aren't getting any "big" gifts for Christmas this year. And the fact that we don't have any extra cash for the holidays leads to a dry bank account for any kind of home improvements. We've been trying for the last 5 years to finish our basement to add extra living space to our house, and haven't gotten past a partially finished floor. Which is even more frustrating for my husband because he is so handy! He knows how to do everything, we just can't seem to make ends meet. We are in desperate need of more space. Rasing a family of 5 on one income that hasn't changed in YEARS is tough. And trying to get ahead is next to impossible. We just want to be able to provide for our children, and give them every opportunity to grow into the compassionate, caring, and exceptional people that we know they are. Adding a little extra living space, and giving our kids the room and freedom to grow is not only a dream, but a goal.
Ellen was so touched by the story, she had to do something for this family, so she decided to surprise her biggest Cleveland, Ohio fans with Kevin Nealon at their door for a round of her new game, "Cash At Your Door."
