BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - Buenos Aires and surrounding areas were pounded Thursday by strong storms that caused flooding and a tornado.
A twister was spotted about 125 miles northwest of the capital with reports of a second nearby. The heavy storm dumped an nearly four-and-a-half inches of rain on the city of Buenos Aires in just one hour and caused havoc.
Traffic lights were knocked out, subways were at a standstill and highways leading into the city were underwater.
Near nightfall, the rain began to slow and some of the water receded and forecasters were calling for more rain on Friday.
