BRUNSWICK HILLS -- A 19-year-old Litchfield man, wanted in four counties, was arrested Thursday night after a police pursuit with the Brunswick Hills Police Department.
A Brunswick Hills officer attempted to pull over a red Chevrolet 4-door sedan driving westbound on Route 303, wanted for suspicion of driving under an OVI suspension.
When the officer activated his overhead lights, the vehicle accelerated and the driver ignored the officer's signal to pull over.
"The officer observed a lot of movement inside the vehicle by the occupants and the passenger began throwing objects out of the window," said Chief Sharon MacKay.
Southbound on Erhart Road at Speith Road in Litchfield, the suspect vehicle slowed to a stop. Believing the suspects were going to bail out and run, the Brunswick Hills officer pulled alongside the suspect vehicle.
The driver, identified as Brandon J. Elder, 19, of Litchfield, put the vehicle in reverse and struck the rear quarter panel of the police vehicle. The officer repositioned his vehicle and the two vehicles collided a second time.
The driver got out of his vehicle and ran off into a corn field. The passenger, identified as Timothy G. Mowery, 23, also of Litchfield, was detained at the scene and cited for open container and littering.
The driver was taken into custody without incident by the Medina County Sheriff's Office and the Medina Police Department at 2:58 a.m. in a field west of Lester in Medina County and booked on the five outstanding warrants.
