Kids are bringing in the big bucks, but can't keep money in their wallet. A survey by the American Institute of CPA's say 6 out of 10 parents pay an allowance. The average earning is $15 a week or about $780 per year. But money earned isn't money saved. A majority of parents say their kids are spending their allowance just as quickly as they receive it.
Watch out Apple, there's a new front-runner in town. Samsung's Galaxy S3 has become the world's best-selling smart phone for the very first time. Nearly 18 million units of the galaxy S3 were shipped in the third quarter of this year, compared to about 16 million of Apple's iPhone 4s. The Galaxy S3 is also one of the fastest-selling smart phones in the world with Samsung recently saying it sold more than 30 million units since its launch in May.
Toyota showed off its new car safety system today in Japan. The system uses sensors and cameras installed at intersections and blind spots on streets. Those cameras relay information to the vehicle about potential hazards, such as cars and pedestrians that are out of normal view. There's also a sensor that can make the car stop automatically if the driver mistakenly steps on the gas pedal instead of the brakes.
