It's was a discouraging snapshot this morning on the cost of college and student debt. Two-thirds of the national college class of 2011 finished school with loan debt. Those who borrowed walked off the graduation stage owing an average of $26,600. That's up about 5 percent from the class before.
Newsweek announced today it plans to end its print edition after 80 years and will shift to an online format only beginning in 2013. The last print edition of the weekly magazine will be its December 31 issue. The online publication will be called Newsweek Global and will a be a worldwide edition that requires a paid subscription.
Some good news for you if you're planning on treating yourself this holiday season. According to a new survey, shoppers this season are spending more cash on themselves. The average shopper will spend nearly $800 this year on gifts and other decor but the study also shows six in 10 plan to spend an average of $139 on gifts for themselves.
