Stark County: After crash, Jeep flips onto driver

WAYNESBURG -- One dead after crash Wednesday afternoon.

The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues their investigation into a fatal accident which occurred at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on State Route 43, between Wiandt Street and Ridgeview Drive in Waynesburg.

A 1994 GMC Safari heading south on SR 43 went left of center, hitting a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The GMC forced the Jeep off the road. The Jeep flipped over, ejecting the driver. The Jeep then landed on the driver.

The GMC driver went to Aultman Hospital. The passenger in the GMC was not hurt.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

No one was wearing a seatbelt. The Canton City Prosecutor's Office will review the case when the investigation is complete.

The Sandy Township fire department assisted at the scene with the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
