CHARDON -- Chardon High School shooting survivor Nick Walczak decided not to go back to school this year. Instead he'll finish up his homework over the summer and then plans to return to Chardon for his senior year.
Meanwhile, he's attending therapy sessions twice a week and has a whole group of friends who've rallied to help him every day. They call themselves "Team Nick."
Nick is still paralyzed from the waist down after being shot four times during the school shooting on February 27. His doctors are cautiously optomistic that his spine and nerves may one day heal.
When Nick returns to school next year he plans to continue his studies at the Auburn vocational school where he'd been studying to be an electrician. Because of his current condition he's adjusted those plans and is now going into electronics.
Last month he celebrated his eighteenth birthday and a three year anniversary with his girlfriend, Brittany.
