Elyria: 2 people trapped after crash, flown to hospitals

ELYRIA -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated a one-car accident.

Troopers tell Channel 3 the accident happened on Innerstate 90 on the ramp of State Route 57.

Just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Juan Palacios lost control of his vehicle. Palacios and his passenger Linda Latorre went off the roadway and hit a tree.

Both people had to be extracted from the vehicle because it was so badly damaged.

Latorre was taken to Elyria Memorial where she was then taken by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Palacios was taken by University Medivac Helicopter to University Hospitals.

Alcohol played a factor in this accident, according to the Highway Patrol. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation
