CLEVELAND -- Police have made an arrest after a shooting that sent a woman and a 2-year-old to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
Ernest Crawford, 19, is suspected of shooting a woman and a child she was babysitting. Crawford remains in police custody awaiting charges of Felonious Assault.
According to police, Crawford was in another room handling the gun when it discharged. The bullet went through the wall hitting the two victims.
The woman, now identified as Annett Jackson, 48, was home babysitting the child at the time of the shooting.
According to family members at the scene, the child, Di'Rico Wilson, 2, is undergoing surgery at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. Jackson was taken to MetroHealth Medical center.
Their conditions are not known at this time.
The shooting happened at an East 76th Street home around 2:00 p.m.
When police arrived, they found a Jackson who was shot in the hand. The lone bullet also hit Washington in the head.
Police say the Jackson's teenage son was arguing with three unidentified men outside of the house. She stopped the argument and then went back inside. A short time after, the gun went off, striking both victims.
Officers are continuing their investigation.
