AKRON -- Former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Bridget McCafferty rejected a plea deal that federal prosecutors offered her and decided to try her case in court.
Jury selection began Friday in U.S. District Court. McCafferty has been accused of lying to the FBI when she denied that former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora tried to intervene in cases that were being heard by her.
She's also accused of not telling the truth when questioned about legal dealings with former Cuyahoga County Auditor Frank Russo and the former executive of DAS Constrcution, Steve Pumper.
McCafferty faces up to five years in prison if found guilty of the charges.
She has denied any wrongdoing.
