It comes with a divider, like an ice cube tray, that sits on top of the batter while it bakes, allowing every brownie not only to be the same size, but there's no cutting, and every piece is like a corner or edge with a chewy outside.
It also has a removable bottom, so when you place it on the serving rack, the pan slides down and the edges are exposed, making it easier to serve the brownies without having to dig them out of a pan.
Jill Panian, and her 3 year-old son Jeffrey agreed to try it. The first thing they noticed is how small the pan is. It's NOT the 9 x 13 pan they were expecting. The commercial makes it look a lot bigger. It does make 18 brownies.
After reading through some of the tips, it does say to use a brownie mix for a 9 x 13 pan. You have to use cooking spray on all surfaces including the divider.
After baking, it says to remove the divider while the brownies are still warm. It came out with no problem, with no sticking. Then we placed it on the serving tray. The serving tray is very unstable, in fact if you're not careful, you'll lose your whole plate of brownies.
Now every brownie did not have the texture of an edge or corner at first. But the more it cooled, the more it did. In fact, they were chewy as promised.
Jill says she'd buy the Perfect Brownie Pan because there was no need to slice and every brownie was the perfect size. She'd cautioned against using the serving tray or at least just be aware that it is slippery.
The Perfect Brownie Pan sells for $19.95 online and stores that carry "As Seen On TV' products. Jill gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
