CLEVELAND -- The man charged in the strangulation death of a Shaker Heights woman in the Oliver House apartment building on Warrensville Center Road in May, 2012 pleaded guilty Friday.

William Hammons, 21, whose alias is "Boo Man," faces life in prison. He will be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12 by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Astrab.

Hammons was indicted on charges including aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping. He was initially charged with aggravated murder in the death of Sharon Anderson-Norfus, 60.

The indictment said Hammons did "purposefully, and with prior calculation and design, cause the death of" Anderson-Norfus.

The victim was found dead in her apartment by a co-worker and building management on May 5, 2012 after not reporting to work at Saks Fifth Avenue at Beachwood Place in Beachwood.

Hammons, from Maple Heights, was arrested in Shaker Heights on June 5, 2012.

Hammons spent a year in Lorain Correctional Facility for attempted robbery and police say he has a lengthy record as a juvenile.
