CONCORD TOWNSHIP -- The Pink Heals Tour 2011 will be making their first stop to Northeast Ohio on Wednesday (Sept. 7)at the Concord Township Fire Station #1, bringing their pink fire truck and fire suits to help raise awareness about cancer in women.
The Pink Heals Tour is a non-profit organization created by a group of firefighters with the mission to raise awareness about cancer in women.
Unlike other charity events, Pink Heals does not solely support breast cancer. They assist in bringing awareness and helping educate the community on all cancers that can affect women.
The firefighters who tour America in their bright pink fire truck bring along with them the signatures of thousands of cancer survivors and stories of hope from courageous women who have battled the disease.
The Pink Heals Tour organization does not accept proceeds from any of the events they attend - instead asking that all money goes to supporting women.
The event in Concord will take place at 11600 Concord-Hambden Road, in Concord Township, from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm. It will be a health and wellness setting that organizers are striving to include everything from health screens and a blood drive, to information and educational booths, to food and entertainment vendors.
To date, the following organizations or business have confirmed their support: Lake Health, Hillcrest Hospital, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and the Ireland Cancer Center. The day long entertainment will include live bands, a Lake County Sheriff's Office K-9 demonstration, MedEvac, a balloon release and, of course, the Pink Heals Tour fire truck.
