CLEVELAND -- With Congress reaching a deal to reopen the federal government, local federal workers are going back to work.

At the Celebrezze Federal Building, workers streamed in, obviously pleased to be back, but most following orders not to speak with the media.

The Cuyahoga Valley National Scenic Railroad was back on track as the park reopened.

And workers were excited.

Conductor Alan Rice said, "I'm elated to be back. When I went to bed last night, I thought I was seven years old and tomorrow was Christmas Morning and I couldn't wait to get out and on the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad and get back to the park."

Businesses and workers in nearby Peninsula were also overjoyed that returning visitors would again be pumping dollars into their businesses.

Almost 3,300 federal and private workers began returning to the job at NASA Glenn Thursday afternoon.

Many were caught in a big traffic jam.

Some shouted "glad to be back" as they drove past TV cameras.

NASA said it will take days to get the center fully operational.

The late-night deal will permit the U.S. Treasury to borrow normally through Feb. 7 or perhaps a month longer, and fund the government through Jan. 15, when the drama and tension over the same issues may be repeated.
