Wednesday is the one and only face-to-face debate in the Cleveland mayoral race.

Mayor Frank Jackson remains a heavy favorite but Ken Lanci hopes to get some headlines.

What might Lanci say to spark attention? What strategy should Mayor Jackson use against a non-politician opponent?

Republicans are trying to tarnish governor candidate and Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald over a contribution he took from a donor he'd appointed to an Economic Development panel.

That violates county regulations. How much mileage will this story have? How well has FitzGerald handled the issue?

Groups hoping to get state lawmakers to expand Medicaid are adopting a new strategy.

They are collecting signatures to try and force a legislative vote and plan to collect more to get the issue on the ballot if that does not happen.

Will the prospect of an issue that appeals to Democrats appearing on next year's ballot in the middle of the Governor's race change Republican leaders' thinking?

Will the legislature ever vote? Might Governor Kasich, who favors expanding Medicaid, support this push?

Cleveland will host the Gay Games next year. There's heightened awareness and sensitivity to crimes against gays.

Police are getting special training. What more should the city do to be welcoming?

Why is there an increase this year in anti-gay hate crimes?

If there's a push to put a measure legalizing gay marriage on next year's ballot, how could that campaign impact the games?

Tom Beres discusses these issues with cleveland.com Political Writer Henry Gomez and Columnist Mark Naymik on this edition of Between the Lines.
