COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A state advisory panel on tourism is lacking appointments from the governor almost a year after the law that created it took effect.

Gov. John Kasich was required to appoint nine members to the TourismOhio Advisory Board by last November.

A spokeswoman for the state agency to which the board is meant to advise says the Kasich administration has interviewed potential members and sought industry recommendations.

Lyn Tolan at the Ohio Development Services Agency says the slots are expected to be filled soon.

She says the agency's director, David Goodman, took over in late March and wanted to understand the issue better.

The law creating the panel is aimed at bolstering the state's tourism business, which supports 443,000 jobs and generates about $43 billion annually.
