LOUDON TOWNSHIP -- A man is dead after an accident between a motorcycle and another vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Seneca County.

According to the State Highway Patrol, Kenneth L. Pelton, 43, of Carey, Ohio, was southbound on U.S. Route 23 when he went left of center and began passing southbound traffic.

Cindy Ann Hoepf, 50, of Alvada, Ohio, who was also southbound, attempted to turn left into a private drive.

She struck Pelton, who was ejected from his motorcycle. The motorcycle then struck a mailbox.

Pelton, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hoepf was not hurt. A news release from the Highway Patrol didn't say what type of vehicle she was driving.

It is unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, which shut down Route 23 for about three hours.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office, New Riegel Fire Department and EMS, LifeFlight and John's Towing assisted at the scene.
