CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland man is facing a long list of charges after police discovered a hydroponic marijuana lab in the basement of his home.
Calvin Kelly, 29, is charged with domestic violence, endangering children, having weapons under disability, drug manufacture or cultivation, drug abuse and possession and possessing criminal tools.
Police responding to a domestic violence call met with a woman at the intersection of Ohio and Orchard streets about 11:40 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report.
She told them her boyfriend had kicked her out of the house and refused to give her their 5-month-old child.
Michelle Devine, 41, said Kelly became upset when she refused to give him $40 to buy marijuana. He then yelled at her and slapped her, threatening to kill her, their son and himself, the report said.
Kelly was taken into custody, and Devine agreed to let officers search the home, in the 14000 block of Ohio Street, which is when they discovered the marijuana lab in the basement.
Police confiscated two hydroponic grow lamps, an air filter, a digital ballast, three guns, a bag of ammunition, two gun boxes and three marijuana plants.
