SUMMARY: Responsible for the implementation and conduct of multiple research project(s). Provides nursing care to patients enrolled on studies and maintains continual assessment of patient response to novel therapies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Implements and conducts multiple research projects in a timely and efficient manner. Develops, implements and evaluates patient recruitment strategies for effectiveness.Screens and assigns patients to appropriate research trials. Under the direction of a physician or group of physicians responsible for one or more medical sections; performs secretarial and administrative support activities for the office. Functions as liaison inter and intra departmentally.Composes, types and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications as required.Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, and handles general inquiries.Schedules/coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments and travel arrangements. Maintains assigned calendar(s). Establishes and maintains filing systems. Orders and stocks supplies. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of office procedures, protocols, organization and office systems; knowledge of correspondence formatting, grammar, spelling and punctuation; knowledge of basic mathematics. Requires a minimum demonstrated typing proficiency of 35 wpm with accuracy; knowledge of the operation of avariety of PC or word processing systems. Knowledge of medical terminology gained through experience or formal coursework may be required. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral, written communication skills and good organization skills.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years secretarial experience in a medical, commercial or industrial environment. Associate's Degree or equivalent coursework in secretarial science, business administration or other related field may substitute for one year of the required experience. After selection and placement, requires up to six months training to learn patient access, department and CC procedures and policies. Experience with Op Time and Surgery Scheduling preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC or word processor; normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying of up to 25 pounds.
