Evaluates and documents patient progress.Facilitates the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.Serves as a liaison between the Manager, staff and other areas within the organization. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (if applicable)/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six months of hire date. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within first year.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Within scope of job, requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical area of responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

The Cardiac Monitoring Technician is responsible for ongoing surveillance of patients'cardiac monitors and provides appropriate nursing staff with immediate/adequate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms and associated hemodynamic/non-hemodynamic situations.Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patients cardiac rhythm and vital signs and notifies appropriate nursing staff of any changes according to clinician, provider orders and/or in accordance with departmental protocols. Measures and interprets patients cardiac rhythm and documents on patient record per departmental standards. Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or management. Uses clear and complete communication with nursing unit personnel when delivering information about changes in cardiac rhythm. Orients and mentors new staff members. Serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both the CMU and nursing units.Gives report to oncoming shift. Other duties as assigned

.EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Possess and maintains current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Must be completed within 1 year of hire. EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic, CCT, CRAT, RN/LPN, background in exercise physiology, cardiac synography, stress technician or cardiac monitor technician medical assistant, preferred. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One year experience monitoring and interpetation of ECG/Dysrhythmia in a physicians office, clinic, pre-hospital or similar setting, preferred.. Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology of the heart. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians and the general public.
