  • Keller Art Glass is a decorative art glass studio, creating one-of-a-kind works of art in glass, metals and other materials.

Located at 2151 Murray Hill Road in Little Italy in Cleveland since 1973, Keller Art Glass started as a photography studio until owner Jerry Keller was introduced to the art of making stained glass.

WKYC Photojournalist Mike Greene brings you the story.

Stained glass led to etched glass and that lead into casting of glass. He also likes to work in three-dimensional forms.

He says you can bend glass, you can shape glass and you can color glass and create something that you don't even know what it will look like when it comes out of the kiln because the colors will shift sometimes.

But most of his time spent now is in making guitar art, pieces from 15" tall to full sized.

He discovered his appreciation of creating the guitar pieces in 2008 during the recession. Business was slow and he had the time to think of something new.

He says he's "obsessed with making guitars."

He has two workers he can call on when needed, but most of the time, he works by himself.

"I like it that way. I like the silence...I like to able to think about what I'm trying to achieve," he said.

He's done work for area churches and temples, decorated a Les Paul guitar for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fundraiser, and created a map of the world wall for MSNBC.

"If each thing that you do you bring your best to it and have it be something new and fresh, then that's the way it will show up for people and they'll get that. There's a beauty in it."
